CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Roller Shades
Keep your Roller Shades looking clean and performing well with simple care habits designed to protect the fabric, finish, and operating system over time.
General Care Overview
At Elevated Windows, we recommend regular light cleaning to help maintain the appearance and function of your Roller Shades. Depending on the material of your shades—whether a PVC and polyester blend or 100% polyester—the cleaning method may vary slightly.
Regular Cleaning for All Roller Shades
Light routine cleaning helps prevent dust buildup and keeps the fabric looking fresh.
- Use a feather duster, microfiber cloth, or the soft brush attachment of a vacuum.
- Gently clean both the front and back of the shade.
- Avoid excessive force or aggressive scrubbing.
- Handle the fabric carefully to help prevent wrinkles or surface damage.
Spot Cleaning for Minor Stains
For small spills or stains, use a gentle cleaning method and avoid harsh products.
- Mix lukewarm water with a mild soap, such as dish soap.
- Do not use bleach, ammonia-based cleaners, or abrasive chemicals.
- Dampen a soft cloth or sponge and gently blot the stained area.
- Do not rub the fabric aggressively.
- Wipe again with a separate damp cloth to remove soap residue.
- Allow the shade to air-dry fully before rolling it back up.
Deep Cleaning for PVC / Polyester Blend Shades
PVC and polyester blend Roller Shades can handle a little more surface cleaning, but still should not be overexposed to moisture.
- Use a clean damp microfiber cloth to wipe away built-up grime.
- For tougher dirt, use the same mild soap solution described above.
- Do not soak the shade or expose it to excessive moisture.
- Blot away remaining moisture with a dry cloth.
- Let the shade air-dry completely before use.
Deep Cleaning for 100% Polyester Shades
Because 100% polyester shades are more fabric-like, they should be cleaned more delicately.
- Spot clean only using a mild soap solution and damp cloth.
- Avoid soaking or oversaturating the fabric.
- For wrinkles or creases, a handheld steamer may be used on a low setting.
- Keep the steamer at a safe distance to avoid water spotting or heat damage.
- Let the shade air-dry fully after cleaning.
Motorized Roller Shade Care
Motorized shades need the same fabric care, plus a little extra attention around the operating components.
- Keep the motor area, casing, and control points free of dust.
- Wipe the exterior gently with a damp cloth only.
- Avoid using cleaning solutions near the motor or control components.
- Check battery levels or charging schedule regularly if applicable.
- Make sure the shade operates smoothly and does not have debris interfering with movement.
General Care Tips
These best practices help protect the shade fabric, operating mechanism, and overall appearance.
- Do not use bleach, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not machine wash or dry-clean the shades.
- Do not expose the fabric to direct heat sources such as hairdryers.
- Extended direct sun exposure may contribute to fading over time.
- Use the shades in a way that minimizes unnecessary strain or misuse.
